Gift certificate denied because expiration was a year ahead

Received gift certificate in a specified year, let's call it 2017 for here. Good through 2018. Tried to use it in 2017, denied twice because it expired in 2018--the next year! That was so absurd I sent it to the Maine Attorney General Consumer Frauds Unit, which got me a check for my $20.

Ordered the Boat & Tote from the Netherlands, including engraving. Within 2 weeks it was deliverd, super fast and the quality looks amazing! Very happy!

Lifetime warranty of original boots is…

Lifetime warranty of original boots is real! Mine are about 40 years old and L.L. Bean just replaced the rubber lowers, provided new inner soles and laces, all for about $40. And they completed the work in about 3-4 days. L.L. Bean of old lives!

No longer the company they were years ago

They no longer stand by their products in the way they once did and the quality has fallen, while the prices have increased. LL Bean will now tell you "no refund" for a failed product, until you get 'BBB' involved and file a case against them. Even they, they will try to issue you a 'Gift Card' instead of a proper monetary refund.

Customer service used to be great to deal with, but not any more. Unknowledgeable is the new standard and less likely to go the distance for product information requested.

Returns are processed at a snails pace and you can wait a month or more before you see your $'s returned to you.

After yet another negative experience, I'm finally giving up on them, sadly. I was a loyal customer for many decades, but as said, they're no longer the same company they once were.

I have been wearing a pair of the…

I have been wearing a pair of the Original L.L. Bean boots (TA212080) for 6 years. The soles were worn through but the leather uppers were in good condition. The boots that I have are rare because they have the loop style speed laces which are no longer available. New boots are $229. When I called and asked about the speed laces, I was advised to send my old boots back to L.L. Bean for repair which I did. A couple weeks later my boots arrived with new soles, laces and in-soles that make the boots as good as new. Cost was $45! Great service all around. My only suggestion is that they make returning boots for repair an option on the website. You have to call and ask for the Repair department.

I shocked at the negative reviews

I shocked at the negative reviews. My experience is that this is the best mail order place around. In every respect. I’m a customer since 1979!

There are other alternatives

I am a loyal customer but things are going south. I returned a shirt that tore from washing it. Granted it was over a year old. But what happened to their lifetime guarantee? Now there is no reason to buy from them anymore. Very sad.

I have been going back and fourth over…

I have been going back and fourth over the return of a 80-99.00 defective raincoat purchased before their new return policy.
They seem to get pleasure out of denying a replacement or return credit.
It used to be about quality goods, exceptional service and a good name.
Sadly under the new regime who inherited the Founders good name,it’s ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!
WALL MART HAS A BETTER RETURN& CUSTOMER SERVICE
POLICY!!

Beware of Buying LL Bean Online

Beware.. tried to buy a paddle board, triggered a fraud, tried for hours to correct it, finally corrected it & bought the paddle board , couldn’t get a confirmation, found out there are LEVELS of customer service, so be PREPARED to put time in.. NOT the ll bean it used to be! 😡😡😡

Tried ordering TwillFlex shirt 3 times…

Tried ordering TwillFlex shirt 3 times and each time, without notification order was cancelled because the shipping address isn't the billing address. Also wanted to buy a 3 season jacket but it won't be available until late July early August.

How easy is it to get a hold of customer service at L.L.Bean?

Fairly easy to get a CS rep via chat or phone but they aren't as conscientious as they once were and seem to use a lot of canned responses.

What has happened to LL Bean? I ordered a pair of boots two weeks ago and the order hasn't even been processed yet. I called and the customer service person had no idea when, or if, the order would be shipped. Worse yet, he didn't seem to care...said he'd be happy to cancel my order. Are you still in business??

If you don't get results from one customer service representative, ask to speak to a supervisor. I emailed my question in and had a quick response and exceptional service. Had I not, I certainty would have gone up the chain of command.

I'm a great buy of LLBeans? I buy there Flip Flops sandles & the right one always breaks Reason I buy from them the return I can buy them@ a few other place for much cheaper & that's what I'll have to do I've given LLBEANS my business for over 30 years I'm like any other American shopper & as I look some where els to shop I know I will save $ but I will still look buy & look els where so many sales the internet & im not a Walmart shopper Well I hope to see LLBeans back with us & yes people we are the ones that built LLBEANS
